Newcastle United are about to sell another star before the transfer window closes.
After a disappointing defeat at St James’ Park on Saturday, the focus at Newcastle United has immediately shifted back to the transfer window.
It has been a quiet window on Tyneside with more talk about outgoings rather than arrivals. Newcastle fans will be hoping that there will be at least one new signing before the end of the window after the Magpies loss to Fulham showed that Eddie Howe is down to the bare bones.
Newcastle fans were not happy with Joe Willock, one of the substitutes after his disappointing performance – fans are crying out for more depth in the first-team squad.
Howe has already seen Miguel Almiron leave for Atlanta United in a move spurred on by PSR. Now, Fabrizio Romano has dropped some fresh transfer news that could have a big impact on the end of Newcastle’s window.

Lloyd Kelly set to leave Newcastle United for Juventus
Defender Lloyd Kelly was a late substitute in Newcastle’s disappointing loss to Fulham. The 26-year-old has been embroiled in transfer rumours for the past month after bids from multiple clubs were placed.
First, Newcastle knocked back Fenerbahce’s bid for Kelly – the fee was believed to be in the region of around £6m which was deemed far too low by Newcastle.
Sporting director Paul Mitchell then knocked back Juventus’ Kelly approach earlier in the window. But on Saturday, it was revealed that Juventus are back in for Kelly and have made contact with Newcastle executives over a potential move.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Newcastle and Juventus have reached an agreement for Kelly.
If Kelly is to leave, Newcastle want a permanent move or a loan with an obligation to buy worth around £15m with add-ons and a sell-on clause. Kelly has also agreed a contract with the Italian side.
Romano has also claimed that Kelly is keen on a move to the Serie A giants. A medical is being scheduled.
Howe is a big fan of Kelly who has previously been branded as ‘important’ by the Magpies boss. Howe also worked alongside Kelly during his time as Bournemouth’s head coach, but their time together on Tyneside looks to have been incredibly short-lived.
Newcastle United selling Lloyd Kelly is the right decision
With the transfer window closing on Monday, it feels like now is the right time to let him leave despite his contract not running out until 2029.
Geordie Boot Boys understands that Kelly is unhappy with his minutes at Newcastle which looks to be the main reason why the defender is eager for the move to Juventus.
Newcastle have a lot of depth in defence, letting Kelly go is not a massive dent in Howe’s squad. It now gives the club a fantastic opportunity to sign an attacking-minded player before the transfer window closes.
Kelly has only made 10 Premier League appearances so far this season and has fallen further down the pecking order as a result of Sven Botman’s return from injury.
