Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap this summer.
The 22-year-old only left Manchester City for the newly-promoted Premier League side last summer, but could be on his way out if they are relegated.
Newcastle United want a striker to complement Alexander Isak this summer, with a return to European football confirmed after their Carabao Cup win in March. The Magpies will be playing Europa Conference League football at least next season, so manager Eddie Howe will be eager to have as many bodies as possible to rotate.
Newcastle want Liam Delap on Tyneside this summer after the England under-21 international’s fantastic first full season in the top flight, scoring 11 goals and bagging two assists.
His form comes as Ipswich Town have struggled to pick up results in the league. The Tractor Boys are currently sitting 18th in the league table, staring an immediate return to the Championship in the face.
It has been confirmed that Delap has a £40m relegation release clause but there are clubs across Europe who are keen on signing the young striker when the transfer window opens in June.
With Delap’s future uncertain, a new transfer report has revealed his current mindset over a summer move.

Liam Delap transfer stance amid Newcastle United interest
Newcastle are expected to welcome several new players to the club this summer, with Howe keen on adding a centre-back, right-winger and a striker to bolster his options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Sporting director Paul Mitchell has been tasked with finding targets across Europe and beyond, but the interest in Delap shows that the club are still willing to do deals domestically.
Mitchell wants to sign young players for Howe to develop this summer. Delap could prove to be an interesting project for the 47-year-old if he joins.
While Delap remains a target for several Premier League clubs, a transfer report from GiveMeSport has suggested that the 22-year-old is still making up his mind.
The report claims that Delap does not yet have a clear preference. He is instead focused on trying to keep Ipswich in the top flight.
Furthermore, the report states that Delap will assess his suitors at the end of the season, when Ipswich’s league status is more transparent.

While Newcastle are looking to make improvements to the squad, there are expected to be departures.
After Fabian Schar’s new contract announcement, five Newcastle players’ contracts are due to expire at the end of the season. There has been no news on whether they will remain at the club or not.
One of those five players is longstanding striker Callum Wilson, who has struggled with injuries throughout his Newcastle career.
Newcastle fans called for William Osula to replace Wilson in the pecking order for the final nine games of the season after failing to find the net since returning from injury in January.
Reports have claimed that West Ham could sign Wilson on a free transfer once his contract expires, keeping him in the top-flight after leaving the Magpies.
