Newcastle United need to freshen up their squad this summer.

That means new arrivals, with Newcastle eyeing three outfield signings.

It also means outgoings, with more players likely to follow Miguel Almiron and Lloyd Kelly out the door at St James’ Park.

There could be a bit of an overhaul on Tyneside. It has been reported that Sean Longstaff is willing to leave, while Callum Wilson’s future remains up in the air amid his contract situation.

West Ham keen to sign Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson

As it stands, the man who cost Newcastle £20million in 2020 will become a free agent at the end of the season.

Newcastle have spoken to Wilson about staying, with the Magpies having an option to extend the 33-year-old’s deal for another year. However, the most likely outcome is that the number nine’s Toon career comes to an end.

If that does happen, Wilson wants to stay in England, and a new report suggests he might get that opportunity.

According to the Chronicle, Wilson is a top target for West Ham this summer if Newcastle decide to release the striker.

West Ham move might appeal to Callum Wilson

Graham Potter is waiting in the wings, and it was very clear on Monday night that the Hammers needs a striker.

Newcastle beat West Ham 1-0, with Potter’s side struggling to properly function as an attacking outlet.

Whether or not Wilson is the answer to their problems remains to be seen, but it is easy to understand why a move to East London might appeal to the forward.

Firstly, it would give him the chance to continue his Premier League career. Secondly, it would hand him the opportunity to play alongside his former podcast pal Michail Antonio.

The Chronicle have offered another reason why a deal could be possible, reporting that one of Wilson’s representatives and West Ham owner David Sullivan have a ‘good rapport’.
