Callum Wilson is weighing up his options ahead of his looming Newcastle United exit.
The 32-year-old appears destined to leave St James’ Park this summer, with his Newcastle United contract due to expire at the end of the season.
Newcastle have held talks with Callum Wilson about his future, but it feels like this summer is the right time for both parties to move on. The Magpies need a new striker who can be trusted to stay fit, while Wilson needs to be first choice somewhere rather than an understudy.
But where will Callum Wilson go? That remains to be seen, but the England international already has a bit of an idea regarding his next move.

Callum Wilson not expected to stay at Newcastle United
That is according to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, who has spoken to Geordie Boot Boys about Callum Wilson’s contract situation at Newcastle United.
“Obviously teams are assessing him ahead of the summer,” he said.
“We know he is probably going to leave Newcastle. There is not 100% confirmation of that just yet, but I do not think anyone is expecting him to stay – even himself. They are ready to move on.
“My understanding is that he would like to stay in England. There is interest from the Saudi Pro League and the MLS, but he is quite keen to stay in England as it stands.
“There will be clubs that want a bit of experience, so he ticks that box. Obviously his injury situation does not help, but we will see what comes up for him. He may even change his mind on going abroad nearer the time.”
Which clubs could move to sign Callum Wilson
Given the fact he has spent his whole career in England and has a young family, it is no surprise that the Magpies’ number nine is eager to continue playing here.
Of course, there is the possibility that his stance could change depending on what offers come up.
For now, there are plenty of English clubs showing an interest in the centre-forward. West Ham are keeping an eye on Wilson, and they are certainly a team that could benefit from his goalscoring ability.
Elsewhere, Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys that Leeds United are interested in Wilson as they continue to challenge for promotion back to the Premier League. Coventry City manager Frank Lampard is also tracking his situation.
While his injury record has hindered his reputation, there will certainly be plenty of clubs – particularly in England – that are eager to sign Wilson if – or when – he becomes a free agent.
