Newcastle United were heavily linked with signing Angelo Gabriel last summer, and it now looks like he could be on the move in 2023.
Angelo is an 18-year-old winger who plays for Santos in Brazil, and a player who Newcastle tried to snap up at the start of the season.
The teenager was scouted extensively by the Magpies, with Steve Nickson travelling to South America to see him play.
It was rumoured that Newcastle were willing to pay £17million for the youngster, who was only 17 at the time. That did not happen, but Angelo has continued to be linked with a move to St James’ Park.
Now, one year on since he first emerged as a target, it looks like Santos are ready to do business.

According to Brazilian website Bolavip, Santos have identified two players that they are going to sell this summer – Angelo Gabriel and Marcos Leonardo.
That is because of the club’s financial situation. The report adds that Santos are hoping to raise around £40million in total by selling both players.
That could create an opening for Newcastle, who are credited with an interest in the right-sided forward who is ‘like Neymar‘.

Angelo is a massive prospect in Brazil, and was named as one of the world’s most exciting teenagers at the start of the year – alongside Garang Kuol, who joined Newcastle at the start of the year.
Dan Ashworth is keen to bring talented youngsters to the club, with the view that they can blossom into Premier League stars at St James’ Park. That is instead of always paying mega money for readymade stars.
Angelo is far from a readymade star, and fits the profile of a typical Dan Ashworth signing. He was scouted extensively last year, and the Magpies are no doubt continuing to follow him. Newcastle’s recruitment team have already proven recently that they are not afraid to revisit former targets.
And with Santos now looking to sell, perhaps we could see Newcastle launch a fresh move for the Brazilian wonderkid.
