Callum Wilson has today responded to the rumours suggesting that AC Milan had made an offer for the Newcastle United striker this month.
It was believed that Milan wanted to bring the 31-year-old in permanently, but Newcastle are unwilling to lose one of the only two strikers currently at the club alongside Alexander Isak.
Speaking on The Footballer’s Podcast, Wilson was very coy about the links with the Italian club and refused to confirm whether or not he’s been in touch with anyone regarding a move.
Wilson refuses to comment on move away from Newcastle
Wilson joined the likes of Kieran Trippier, Miguel Almiron and Jamaal Lascelles in being linked with moves away from the club this month with very little news on any incomings.
The striker has been very prolific for Newcastle since signing from Bournemouth in 2020, but his poor injury record has massively hindered the impact he’s had on the team every season since.
With 18 months left on his contract, it was believed that Newcastle were open to selling the forward for the right price rather than letting him walk on a free in 2025 or see his value decrease significantly.
However, nothing serious has come of the interest from Milan just yet, though there is still plenty of time for them to return with an offer for the England international who is hoping to return to action this week or next.
On the podcast, Wilson said: “No [I can’t shed any light]. I haven’t checked my phone, like Michail, I was in the training ground today.”

Newcastle are looking to sign a new striker
There’s been a whole host of strikers linked with Newcastle as the club look to add to their strength in depth in the front line with the likes of Dominic Solanke and the 18-year-old Can Uzun both linked in the last couple of weeks.
While many want Newcastle to have three top class strikers in their ranks, it would be difficult to keep everyone happy, especially if that third striker is of a good quality.
Instead, their interest in someone like Solanke, a Premier League-proven player, may suggest that Wilson will be moved on either now or in the summer.
A large part of the reason a third striker is in such high demand is because of the injury record of Wilson, but replacing him with someone who is reliable and injury free may solve the issue without having to spend more money on a third option.
