Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe believes he might receive one injury boost before the end of January.
The Magpies are still blighted by plenty of injuries, and things have got worse following the Tyne-Wear derby win over Sunderland.
Joelinton was forced off during that game, and Eddie Howe has now confirmed that the Brazilian midfielder is going to be out of action for at least six weeks.
That is a huge blow, and it comes at a time when Newcastle are also without Callum Wilson. He has missed our previous two games, and is going to be unavailable for Saturday’s clash with Manchester City.
It has been reported that Newcastle hope to have him back for the FA Cup game against Fulham, but Howe believes it could be the game after when he makes his return.
When Eddie Howe thinks Callum Wilson will return from injury
Ahead of Newcastle’s game against Manchester City, Howe spoke to the media. He was asked to provide an update on Wilson’s status after the 31-year-old spoke about his latest injury on the Footballer’s Football Podcast.
“We’re well aware of what Callum’s injury is and the timescale on it,“ he said.
“We hope that he can be back in and around the Aston Villa game. That is what we are looking at. But obviously if it takes longer we will take that time but we don’t see it being a long term issue.“

Newcastle miss being able to rotate their strikers
Newcastle face Aston Villa on January 30th, three days after the FA Cup fourth round tie away to Fulham.
Wilson has suggested himself that it might take him longer to recover from this injury, having rushed back from the previous one to help the team when Alexander Isak was struggling for fitness.
But this time there is no rush. Isak appears to be fully fit again and is scoring goals, while the schedule is much less intense.
That will allow Wilson to take his time and ensure he returns when he is 100% ready. Another setback would be absolutely devastating, especially as the £20million man has ambitions of going to Euro 2024 with England.
For Newcastle, it would be really beneficial if Howe could rotate his strikers again. It is something we have barely seen this season, after it worked so well in the second half of the previous campaign.
Here’s hoping Wilson stays on schedule and we see him back in the squad when he head to Villa Park at the end of January.
