Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo sits at the very top of Newcastle United’s shopping list for January.
It is an open secret that Newcastle United want to sign a right winger in January after failing to improve in that area over the summer.
Newcastle launched a deadline day £50m bid for Anthony Elanga that was rejected by Nottingham Forest, and Eddie Howe was left emptyhanded when the summer window slammed shut.
Elanga is still on Newcastle’s radar heading into January, but Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo is Newcastle’s “dream” signing.
The 25-year-old has been in great form for the Bees this season with 10 goals in 21 appearances. However, a January move seems difficult.

Brentford stance on selling Bryan Mbeumo to Newcastle
As we all know, Newcastle’s January plans are hamstrung by Profit and Sustainability Rules.
The January budget will rely heavily on sales, with Miguel Almiron likely to leave Newcastle in 2025.
Reports suggest that Brentford value Mbeumo at £50m – a figure Newcastle will likely struggle to match without significant sales of their own.
The Daily Mail are now reporting that Bryan Mbeumo is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs with Newcastle among those interested.
However, Brentford are “reluctant” to sell Mbeumo in January and will only sanction a deal if a “very substantial offer” is received.
What does Newcastle’s dream January transfer window look like?
Early reports suggested that Newcastle will have a £70m budget in January, but that no longer seems to be the case.
Instead, any incomings will rely on outgoings. An exit for Almiron looks inevitable, while Callum Wilson had been linked with an exit before his latest injury. Ideally, Newcastle would offload both forwards next month.
There is a growing feeling that Newcastle may have to sell a big star to comply with PSR, but the dream scenario would be if a few more fringe players were sold.

Sean Longstaff is open to a shock move and as an academy product he would raise pure profit for the club’s accounts. Fans would also rather sell Harvey Barnes than lose one of Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak or Bruno Guimaraes.
If Paul Mitchell can successfully trim the Newcastle squad in January, then it should set up an exciting end to the January window with the likes of Mbeumo being chased down to the deadline.
