Newcastle United are now set to sanction a shock permanent transfer for striker William Osula in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

It was just reported that Newcastle United are not looking to make any more signings this summer, but they were still hard at work with outgoing transfers.

One player whose future looked unsure was William Osula. The 22-year-old has fallen down the pecking order due to the arrival of Nick Woltemade and deadline day agreement for Yoane Wissa.

Osula made his first Premier League start for Newcastle on Saturday evening, but failed to impress when it mattered most.

With the Dane failing to take his opportunity, a shocking new report states that Osula is now set for a permanent move away from Newcastle.

William Osula set for permanent move to Eintracht Frankfurt

There was talk that Osula could leave Newcastle on loan on deadline day, but very few could have predicted he would move permanently.

According to Craig Hope, Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are on the verge of signing Osula for a staggering £30m from the Magpies.

Newcastle tried to sign Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt earlier this summer to no avail, but Eddie Howe’s negotiation team are now on the verge of one of the most bizarre deals of the summer.

It was also reported that Newcastle have included a buy-back clause for the deal. Osula joined Newcastle for £10m in 2024, scoring twice in the Premier League.

His exit gives Newcastle a significant PSR boost ahead of the transfer deadline, adding to the substantial profit they will make from Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool.

Newcastle will owe a sum of the deal to Sheffield United, who own a sell-on clause for the Dane.

Aston Villa had an agreement with Newcastle United for William Osula

While Osula has undoubtedly got a lot of potential, it was clear from his first Premier League start that he still has a long way to go before being able to play regularly for a top team.

However, Frankfurt are taking a gamble on the striker, and a significant gamble at that. It remains to be seen whether Newcastle go back into the transfer market for another player should Osula leave, but they will now have just two first-team strikers for the 2025/26 campaign.

According to Hope, Aston Villa also had an agreement with Newcastle for Osula, but UEFA spending rules made it difficult to complete.

It remains unknown whether that deal was going to be a loan move or a permanent one, as Frankfurt are aiming for.
