William Osula is a professional footballer who plays for Newcastle United.
After a wild spending spree in 2023 that saw the likes of Sandro Tonali, Tino Livramento and Harvey Barnes join the club for big money, Newcastle United had to stop splashing the cash in 2024.
They came perilously close to breaching PSR rules and only stayed on the right side of the law by selling Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, even though they didn’t want to.
As a result, hardly any signings were made in the summer of 2024 but young striker William Osula did arrive, and fans are getting excited about his potential.
Here is everything you need to know about him.

Who is William Osula?
William Idemudia Osula is a professional striker but is also capable of playing out on the flanks.
Osula’s first club was FC Copenhagen but he didn’t last long in his native country, with Sheffield United spotting his promise when he was just 14 years old.
He moved to England in 2018 and fought his way up the ranks at the Blades before making his first team debut in March 2022.
Osula spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Derby County, grabbing his first goals in professional football, before returning to Bramall Lane to break into the first team.
Newcastle signed Osula in 2024 and he scored his first Premier League goal with a powerful header in the 3-0 victory against Ipswich Town in April 2025. He has a Carabao Cup winner’s medal to his name.
William Osula age and height
Osula was born in Aarhus, Denmark, on August 3, 2003. As of October 2025, he is 22 years old.
The striker is still young, but he’s not the youngest and he’ll have to turn his raw potential into tangible quality soon.
Osula stands at a towering 6’4″ tall.
The striker has strength, height and pace, giving him plenty of qualities to be a dangerous striker but he just needs to put it all together.

He previously wore No.32 at Sheffield United and No.23 at Derby County.

Jacob Murphy is one of many Newcastle players who believe Osula is the fastest player in the squad.
Speaking to BBC Match of the Day’s X channel, the winger said: “The fastest in the team now, I would say, is Will Osula.
“Lightning fast. I also think Anthony Gordon would give him a good run for his money.”
How much does Osula earn at Newcastle United?
Osula reportedly earns £20,000 a week at Newcastle, which equates to £1.04m a year. He is contracted to the club until 2029.
That puts him at the very lowest end of Newcastle’s earners.
How much did Newcastle sign Osula for?
Newcastle paid £10m to Sheffield United for Osula, a fee that could rise up to £15m if certain clauses are met.
It’s a sizeable fee for a player who has yet to prove himself worth the sum.
