Eddie Howe inspired his Newcastle United side to a second-half comeback against Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest took the lead at the City Ground on Sunday afternoon with centre-back Murillo heading them into the lead.

Newcastle United fans were furious with referee Anthony Taylor after the opening goal, but Eddie Howe rallied his squad during the break.

Goals from Alexander Isak, Joelinton and Harvey Barnes completed Newcastle’s comeback and extended the winning streak to three consecutive games.

Howe is expected to qualify for Europe this season and Newcastle are well on track with Sunday’s win lifting them to eighth in the Premier League table.

Eddie Howe praises Joelinton vs Nottingham Forest

There were impressive performances across the pitch for Newcastle, but Joelinton was a standout star against Forest.

The 28-year-old started on the left wing, where he was “excellent” against Arsenal last week.

However, Joelinton was moved to the right flank for the second half to accommodate for Anthony Gordon playing on his preferred left side.

Joelinton was just as impressive on the right as he was on the left, and he capped off his superb performance with a well-taken goal to put Newcastle into the lead.

He ended the match with 52 touches, a 91 percent passing accuracy and one key pass.

After the full-time whistle, Howe was full of praise for Joelinton and insisted he is like “gold dust”.

As quoted by BBC Sport, Howe said: “Joelinton is like gold dust because wherever you put him you know he’s going to do a good job.

“His attitude never changes in training. He’s playing in different positions so he has to do the training.

“I’m really pleased again with his performance.”

Joelinton is adored at Newcastle United

Just last week, Joelinton insisted he wants to make history at Newcastle by winning silverware – something he hopes to achieve this season.

He has been on some journey since signing for Newcastle in a club-record £40m deal.

The Brazilian arrived as a striker but was converted into a powerhouse midfielder by Howe. He is now thriving out wide, which highlights just how versatile he is for the Magpies.

Howe has plenty of selection headaches to mull over at Newcastle, but Joelinton is one player who solves problems rather than causes them.
