Miguel Almiron is still eyeing a move away from Newcastle United in January.
The Paraguayan has fallen out of favour with Newcastle boss Eddie Howe this season – he now wants out and there are clubs across Europe, USA and Brazil who want him.
Almiron was spotted in a Paris airport on Wednesday following Newcastle’s win at Arsenal causing many to believe his time on Tyneside was up – his agent confirmed it was simply a holiday.
The 30-year-old has managed just five Premier League appearances this season but could be in contention for Newcastle’s FA Cup tie against Bromley on Sunday.
The Magpies need to sell in January as PSR continues to be a problem – player arrivals most likely won’t happen without departures.
Almiron had an offer from a Brazilian top-flight club earlier in the window, but that hasn’t come to anything yet.
Now, a recent update suggests Almiron could be nearing a move abroad in January.

Almiron in advanced talks with Charlotte FC
Almiron nearly joined Charlotte in the summer but ultimately chose to stay at Newcastle for the season with the hope he would find more game time.
According to German Garcia Grova, talks between Almiron and the MLS club are advancing.
As it stands, Charlotte are yet to make a formal offer for the 30-year-old. Personal terms are known to be a stumbling block, they’re taking priority at the moment.
Grova also states that this isn’t a deal which is expected to be finalised soon – Charlotte may have to wait until the summer to land their man.
Almiron has been linked with an exit since the 2023/24 season. He came close to joining Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab in January 2024 but opted to stay at Newcastle. Almiron is under contract at Newcastle until the end of next season so there’s no immediate need to offload him.
Almiron has no future at Newcastle
Keeping Almiron would be a mistake, it’s evident that Howe doesn’t see him as his long-term option on the right wing.
The 30-year-old has lost his place to Jacob Murphy who is performing exceptionally so far this season. Murphy has scored three goals and bagged six assists in the Premier League so far. Recently, the 29-year-old has linked up well with Alexander Isak, something which solidifies his place in Newcastle’s starting XI
Almiron needs to leave his own good and the clubs. Newcastle want a winger in January, if he stays while one is signed there’s no doubt he’ll be pushed further down the pecking order.
There’s more than enough time for Almiron to strike a deal with another club in January, but the clock is slowly ticking.
