Newcastle United could do with signing another striker on transfer deadline day, but they are not going to get one.
The Magpies’ need for a forward comes after news that Alexander Isak could be out of action for a few weeks. He limped off before half time against Aston Villa on Tuesday night with a groin injury.
His absence coincides with Callum Wilson also being out of action. It is hoped that he will be available for this weekend’s game against Luton Town, but the 31-year-old has refused to confirm whether or not he will be able to make his return.
Newcastle could really do with having another striker in their squad, and a player who they tried to sign in the summer of 2022 is very much available. However, the Magpies simply will not be able to do a deal.
Armando Broja is suddenly available on loan
Following news that Hugo Ekitike had snubbed Newcastle for the second time, they turned their interest towards Armando Broja in the summer of 2022.
The Chelsea youngster was heavily linked with the Magpies, as they competed with West Ham to land the striker.
There was a big money bid from the Hammers and claims that he was keen on moving to St James’ Park, but in the end he remained at Stamford Bridge.
Since then, Broja has suffered a horrible injury and recovered, but is now struggling for minutes at Stamford Bridge. That is why he continues to be linked with a move away, with Chelsea valuing him at £50million.
That is a ridiculous fee, but transfer deadline day has brought news that Chelsea are willing to send the 22-year-old out on loan.
Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with Broja, but there is no speculation over a move to Tyneside, despite Eddie Howe’s sudden need for a striker.

Newcastle would not be able to loan Broja
But while bringing Broja in on loan could be the perfect solution, a deal is simply impossible.
That is because Premier League rules state that you are only allowed one player from a specific club at a time. And Newcastle already have someone on loan from Chelsea – Lewis Hall.
He is due to become a permanent Toon player in the summer for £28million, but for now he is only on loan.
If it was not for that arrangement, you would like to think Newcastle would be showing an interest in Broja. He is someone they have targeted before, and he is of an age where he could end up being a long-term replacement for Callum Wilson.
But instead, Newcastle will have to hope that their two injured strikers return to full fitness as soon as possible.
