Newcastle United have a very ambitious plan to replace Miguel Almiron if he leaves the club this month.
The 29-year-old is being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with Al-Shabab agreeing a deal with Newcastle United to sign the Paraguay international.
It has been claimed that Miguel Almiron would prefer to remain at St James’ Park, but that stance could always change as we head into the final week of the January transfer window.
If Almiron goes, Newcastle do have a plan to replace him. It has been claimed that they are interested in Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White.
He would be an incredibly exciting arrival on Tyneside, and it would certainly be a signing that Alan Shearer approves of given what he has previously said about the 23-year-old.
A deal for Gibbs-White would surely be very expensive for Newcastle, but Toon fans will certainly take some encouragement from recent developments at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest looking to sign two attackers
While Newcastle wait for new signings, Forest are making moves. They are looking to sign Carlos Borges from Ajax, who is a 19-year-old winger that can play on either flank. Fabrizio Romano believes Forest are in ‘advanced talks‘ to sign the teenager.
But they are not finished there. They are also looking to bring in Giovanni Reyna on loan from Borussia Dortmund.
Sky Sports have claimed that Forest have a ‘total verbal agreement‘ with the USA international, and they are now looking to strike a deal with Dortmund.
That is exciting for Forest, as Reyna is a talented young player who has a huge amount of potential. And he is also someone who can play in a similar position to Morgan Gibbs-White, which could lead to some excitement on Tyneside.

Hope for Newcastle’s Morgan Gibbs-White interest
If Forest do sign Reyna, that could perhaps open the door for Newcastle to sign Gibbs-White.
While this has not been reported, it is easy to suggest that Forest are making these signings so that they are prepared for Gibbs-White to depart. That is purely speculation and fantasy on our part, as we would love to see the attacking midfielder join Eddie Howe’s side.
The £42.5million man would be an upgrade on Almiron, and he has the versatility that Howe loves. He has proven himself to be a star in a Forest shirt, and it would be a dream to see him in black and white.
A lot will need to happen for that to become a reality, but Forest’s most recent moves in the transfer market are certainly interesting.
Whether or not they end up having an impact on what Newcastle do this month remains to be seen, but hopefully that proves to be the case.
