Journalist Ben Jacobs is now claiming that Newcastle United have made a verbal agreement with another club to sell one of their players this month.

It’s been a busy week for Newcastle in terms of outgoings as we’ve already seen Javier Manquillo depart the club while a number of others are rumoured to be wanted this month.

Miguel Almiron is a target for Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab and Jacobs now claims on X that they have agreed with Newcastle to sign the winger but need to discuss it with the player.

Newcastle agree to sell key player in January

It was believed that Newcastle didn’t want to let anyone go this month and that they were happy with what they had, though it’s been obvious they would like to bring in some fresh legs.

As everyone knows by now they are heavily restricted by the Profit and Sustainability Rules meaning someone is going to have to leave to make way for a new signing.

Almiron, Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson have all been weighed up as potential sales, though the Paraguayan feels the most likely right now given the interest and Newcastle’s willingness to sell.

They won’t lose out on their valuation of the player, however, and it’s believed that after rejecting a first bid of around £17m they are demanding a fee of at least £30m to consider letting one of their ‘unbelievable‘ players go.

Newcastle could be planning late January move

With all of these players still possibly leaving the club in the next few days it could mean that Newcastle have a big plan on where to spend the money they could soon raise.

It’s been clear that they would like to bring in a new midfielder, especially after Joelinton’s injury news, but whether or not there may be room for one more is not quite as obvious.

Should they lose Almiron you’d have to figure they would bring in another wide player, at least in on loan, or they would be leaving themselves very short during a season which has already seen the squad stretched beyond what anyone could have imagined.

With just eight days left in the January window Newcastle have some very big decisions to make and it could have a big impact on the club’s future.
