After so much talk over the course of the summer, Kieran Trippier remains a Newcastle United player.

The England defender has frequently been linked with a move away from Newcastle, speculation that has continued even after the closing of the English transfer window.

Trippier is believed to have asked to leave St James’ Park this summer and despite most of the major European leagues having shut their transfer windows, there is still thought to be interest from Turkey.

However, Eddie Howe has constantly spoken of how much he wants to keep the defender.

Now, reports from The Chronicle provide some further insight.

They suggest Howe is looking to build up rapport levels with Trippier again and has been working closely with him over the international break, with the veteran having retired from England duty after Euro 2024.

A late offer from Turkey would likely test the relationship Howe has with sporting director Paul Mitchell, given just how much the Newcastle boss wants to keep Trippier at the club.

Kieran Trippier remains hugely important to Newcastle

Tino Livramento may have been the starting right-back this season but it does not mean that Trippier cannot continue to play a big role for Newcastle.

He was a vocal presence on the touchline during the win over Tottenham before the international break and Howe was full of praise for his cameo against Bournemouth last month.

Livramento has also spoken of how Trippier has helped him develop too, such is his wealth of experience.

Perhaps Trippier will eventually leave in January but that doesn’t mean his final few months at the club have to be miserable.

The defender continues to play a big role for Newcastle both on and off the pitch.
