There was a brilliant atmosphere at St James’ Park in the first home match since Newcastle United won the Carabao Cup.
The incredible Carabao Cup bus parade will be a lifetime memory for Newcastle United fans, but it was important that everyone remained focus on the rest of the Premier League campaign.
Eddie Howe kept his squad focused as Newcastle beat Brentford 2-1, but the fans at St James’ Park also played their part.
Wembley was shaking when Newcastle scored in the Carabao Cup final, and supporters made sure there was an equally impressive atmosphere against Brentford.

Newcastle United fans display Sam Fender-inspired banner
Wor Flags produced a stunning display at Wembley to help generate an incredible atmosphere, and they continued their fantastic work at St James’ Park.
Earlier this season, Alexander Isak was wowed by a display at St James’ Park, but this time around it was Eddie Howe who was honoured by a flag display.
Separate from the Howe display, a new banner in the East Stand was on show reading some of Sam Fender’s song lyrics.
Fender’s lyrics: “For all the ones who didn’t make the night” were displayed before kick-off.
Sam Fender’s celebrations after Newcastle win Carabao Cup
Fans may have noticed that Sam Fender’s name was on Newcastle’s shirt as they lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley.
The Geordie singer has been a shirt sponsor for Newcastle this season and continues to share close ties with the club.
At Wembley, Alan Shearer FaceTimed Fender to celebrate the cup win, and the Newcastle legend was spotted at his gig just a few days later.
Unfortunately, Fender missed Newcastle’s cup celebrations at the weekend due to his scheduled tour, but his lyrics were on full display at St James’ Park on Wednesday evening.
