Alan Shearer’s one-word reaction to Newcastle United bus parade after emotional speech

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer was just as emotional as any fan as the Carabao Cup was paraded through the city.

It was a day every Newcastle United fan has been waiting for. Two weeks after an incredible victory over Liverpool at Wembley, Eddie Howe and the squad finally had a chance to bring home the trophy.

Over 250,000 Newcastle fans lined the streets of the city as the Carabao Cup was paraded from St James’ Park to the Town Moor.

Eddie Howe was blown away by Newcastle fans and their support for the club. It has been 70 years since Newcastle fans were able to celebrate a trophy, so they took the opportunity with both hands.

Alan Shearer reacts to incredible Newcastle United celebrations

Ahead of time, Alan Shearer confirmed he wouldn’t be on the bus parade as the cup was showcased around the city.

During his time as a player, Shearer found his bus parades ’embarrassing’ when he returned to Tyneside as a runner-up. This time around, Newcastle came home with the trophy.

While Alan Shearer wasn’t on the bus, he was among the Newcastle fans celebrating and he gave his one-word reaction on social media.

After the celebrations ended, Shearer took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a photo of the parade. He kept his caption short and sweet – “Scenes”.

Shearer was at Wembley to watch the Carabao Cup victory and the cameras often panned up to the Newcastle legend to catch his wild celebrations.

After the win, Shearer text Eddie Howe to say thank you, and he also spent the evening celebrating with Newcastle players.

Despite opting out of the bus parade, Shearer was involved in the Town Moor celebrations and he told Newcastle fans precisely how important the trophy was to him.

“I said I was going to party heavier than anyone, I think I did. I don’t know where I am, what time it is, what day it is,” Shearer said, as quoted by Newcastle World.

“The last two weeks have just been probably the best of my life and that Sunday at Wembley, it’s what we’ve all wanted and what we’ve all waited for for so long.

“I was lucky enough to win a Premier League with Blackburn and that was an unbelievable feeling.

“But I have to tell you, two weeks ago at Wembley on that Sunday was the best feeling I’ve ever had on a football pitch or off a football pitch.”
