Newcastle United’s latest signing was spotted in the stands as Eddie Howe’s side were embarrassed by Celtic in Glasgow.

The Magpies will be travelling back to Tyneside in a slump after the way they played; it was a game Eddie Howe would rather forget in a hurry.

Newcastle United were beaten 4-0 by Celtic in Glasgow on Saturday afternoon, ending a rather torrid week for the club, which has been marred by transfer failings and speculation over the future of their star man.

Alexander Isak was not part of the Newcastle squad against Celtic, with Howe confirming it was his choice due to the amount of speculation around his future.

The Magpies will now travel to the far east for the rest of their pre-season tour, and will be keen to forget their performance at Celtic Park. Things only get tougher from here, with a clash against Arsenal taking place next weekend.

While Newcastle dust themselves down after a humiliating loss, there is one positive to take as the club’s latest signing was spotted in the stands during the game.

Park Seung-soo spotted at Celtic Park as Newcastle United lose their first pre-season friendly

After trials with Bayern Munich last year, Park Seung-soo is set to officially be announced as a Newcastle player.

The 18-year-old impressed with Suwon Bluewings earlier this year, earning himself a move to Tyneside. It was reported that Park Seung-soo was set to be loaned out for his first season at Newcastle, but it is now believed that the South Korean wonderkid will stay on Tyneside to establish himself as a club-trained player.

A deal has been agreed between the player and the club, and it is believed that an announcement is now pending.

It looks like the deal will be announced soon, as the youngster was spotted in the stands during the game on Saturday.

Park Seung-soo will become the second South Korean player to play for Newcastle, with Ki Sung-yueng the first.

Park Seung-soo set to be part of Newcastle United’s pre-season squad

After the loss to Celtic, Newcastle are jetting off to Singapore to play Arsenal before flying to South Korea for games against a K-League XI and Tottenham Hotspur.

Once those games are done, it is back to St James’ Park for a friendly against Espanyol and Spanish giants Atletico Madrid for the Sela Cup.

Park Seung-soo is likely to be a part of the games in South Korea, to boost the attention from the locals who may be deliberating whether to buy tickets to see the Magpies.

After agreeing on a deal, Park Seung-soo has completed his medical with Newcastle and is set to be a part of Newcastle’s youth setup next season, with a clear pathway to first-team football if all goes well.
