Newcastle United are approaching the business end of the season.

After winning the Carabao Cup for the first time in their history, Newcastle United’s full focus will be on ensuring a finish in at least the top five in the Premier League.

Indeed, English clubs could be afforded five spots for next season’s Champions League and the race is on.

Newcastle beat Brentford 2-1 on Wednesday to move fifth in the Premier League table, while Eddie Howe’s side also boast a game in hand on most of their rivals on that front.

While there is still an awful lot to play for at St James’ Park, however, pre-season will soon roll around.

Reports suggest Newcastle could be set for a pre-season tour of South Korea and Singapore and fresh insight has now emerged.

Newcastle United’s potential opponents for pre-season tour of South Korea and Singapore

According to The Daily Mail, the Newcastle United squad could head for their tour in Asia in late July.

It is claimed Newcastle could play two games while in South Korea, against Premier League rivals Tottenham and an All-Star XI. The Spurs game could be played at the 66,000-seater World Cup Stadium in Seoul.

If the tour then moves on to Singapore, Arsenal could await. It should of course be noted that this yet to have been officially confirmed.

Newcastle United could make new history during pre-season

Newcastle United have never toured South Korea, so it will be fascinating to see the club potentially open up new doors if they do end up spending some time there.

Interestingly, the last time the club were in Singapore, Newcastle broke the world transfer record to sign Alan Shearer for £15million in 1996.

It’s difficult to imagine Newcastle breaking any transfer records this time around of course but perhaps some new signings will be involved.

Newcastle think they can spend big this summer, having seemingly come through the very worst of their PSR problems.

Hopefully, some new faces will be involved.
