Newcastle United have been training ahead of Saturday night’s game against Nottingham Forest, with three of Eddie Howe’s most important players nowhere to be seen.
The Magpies head to the City Ground this weekend after a disappointing display at home to Luton Town, while they will also be looking for revenge after what happened on Boxing Day.
Forest beat Newcastle 3-1 on December 26th, with Chris Wood scoring a hat-trick. However, he will not be in action on Saturday due to injury.
Two players who likely will be involved are Callum Wilson and Harvey Barnes. They have returned from their respective injuries, and have featured heavily in the training pictures that have been uploaded to the club’s official website.
However, there are also some major absentees.

Anthony Gordon not seen in Newcastle training this week
The club have uploaded 28 photos to their official website from Wednesday’s training session. Worryingly, Anthony Gordon does not feature in any of them.
The 22-year-old sustained an ankle injury at the weekend, which is not thought to be serious. However, it has been claimed that he is likely to miss the trip to the City Ground.
And the fact that the ‘quick‘ Scouser has not been spotted in training certainly suggests that he remains a doubt for the game against Nottingham Forest.
There also appears to have been no Alexander Isak involved. He is out of action with a groin problem, with Howe stating that he is likely to miss Newcastle’s next two games.
Thirdly, Sven Botman has not been spotted. However, that seems to be because he has been away signing a deal with Adidas. Therefore, there should be no concerns over his fitness.
But the big worry is Gordon, as it remains unknown how long he will be out for. Hopefully it is not too long, as he has become one of our most important players this season.
