Newcastle United fans are still waiting to discover when Anthony Gordon will be back from injury.
The 22-year-old was forced off at half time during the Magpies’ 4-4 draw with Luton Town on Saturday afternoon due to an ankle problem.
After the game, Anthony Gordon was seen leaving St James’ Park wearing a moon boot and using crutches. It was a concerning scene, considering how important he has been to Eddie Howe’s side all season.
Sunday brought a bit more promise, with fans seeing Gordon out and out about without the moon boot, but it was claimed that he will likely miss this weekend’s game against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
Anthony Gordon injury ‘isn’t serious’
Now the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope has provided an update on what he has heard regarding Gordon’s fitness.
He has taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to inform fans that the ankle injury that the winger sustained on Saturday is not believed to be serious.
He wrote: “I’m told Anthony Gordon injury isn’t serious but still unclear when he’ll be fit.”
That looks like good news for Newcastle
The fact it is not considered a very serious injury is massively encouraging. We have had way too many of them as of late!
However, considering the volume of injuries that Newcastle have had, fans will know they are not out of the woods until they see Gordon either in a match or in training.
So many times this season we have been told that injuries are not serious and that a player will be back soon, only for them to endure a sustained spell on the sidelines.
Hopefully that is not the case with Gordon, who is yet to be officially ruled out of Saturday night’s game against Nottingham Forest.
It is a different story for leading scorer Alexander Isak, who will miss the Magpies’ next two games according to Eddie Howe. He suffered a groin injury in the win over Aston Villa, and was absent for the draw with Luton.
