Newcastle United hit back at Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham with brilliant social media post

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou wasn’t pleased after losing to Newcastle United on Saturday.

The Australian oversaw his third loss in four games as Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak’s goals cancelled out an early strike from Dominic Solanke.

Postecoglou was visibly furious on the touchline after his side conceded the equaliser. The ball struck Joelinton’s arm in the build-up, but the goal stood amid protests from Spurs players.

At full-time, Postecoglou claimed that Tottenham deserved to win, stating that “if all things were even and balanced, we would’ve won the game.”

Spurs were without several key players through injury, but Newcastle manager Eddie Howe defied Postecoglou’s comments, claiming his side were the rightful winners.

The Spurs boss’ words even caused a Newcastle club legend to bite back, with Alan Shearer not fond of Postecoglou’s comments.

Since then, Newcastle’s social media team have worked overtime to create a hilarious response to the fuming Postecoglou.

Despite Postecoglou’s rant, Newcastle celebrated their sixth consecutive win in all competitions. A certain Swedish striker’s goal also meant that Isak had scored in seven straight Premier League games – something only Shearer and Joe Willock have done before.

The day after the game, Newcastle uploaded a video on TikTok which relayed Postecoglou’s “even and balanced” comments several times before cutting to a screenshot of the scoreline.

The difference was that the scoreline changed to Spurs winning 3-2 with “if all things were even” scoring a late brace to secure Spurs all three points.

It’s fair to say Newcastle’s social media team deserve a raise for that.

The win puts Newcastle 11 points ahead of Spurs in the Premier League table as their form continues to dip.

Away from Saturday, Newcastle now shift their focus onto Tuesday’s game against Arsenal – an important first-leg in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Despite still getting the job done on Saturday, the win wasn’t convincing. The Magpies conceded their first goal in five Premier League games and struggled to take control of the fixture at times.

They face a tougher test against Arsenal on Tuesday – but can still take a lot of confidence from Saturday’s result.

Howe took his pre-match press conference on Monday, which aired on Newcastle’s website. He was asked about his feelings for the game.

“We’ve got to be really good off the ball and solid defensively,” he said.

“We’ve got to cause Arsenal problems the other way. I don’t think we should overthink it, we just need to get that mix right.

“Let’s try and continue the good performances we’ve given recently and try and win the game.”
