Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe faced the press following the win against Tottenham Hotspur.
It was a cagey affair at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium but Newcastle did just enough to leave the capital with all three points.
An Anthony Gordon strike and Alexander Isak’s goal in his seventh consecutive Premier League game cancelled out Dominic Solanke’s early finish when he beat the returning Sven Botman to a header inside the box.
England head coach Thomas Tuchel was in attendance for the game, he was thought to be watching Gordon, Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento as well as two Spurs players.
The game wasn’t short of controversy either, the Magpies equaliser was given despite the ball hitting Joelinton’s arm in the build-up before Gordon tucked away.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou believes that his side deserved to win and would have if Tottenham didn’t have a slew of injury problems.
The game was close, but Eddie Howe’s comments after the game show he’s not willing to let Postecoglou’s words slide.

Howe says Newcastle deserved win against Spurs
Howe spoke to BBC MOTD following the result where he was asked if he thought his side deserved to win.
He said: “Based on our first half performance (we deserved to win). I thought we were really good.
“The most pleasing thing is to come back from conceding an early goal away from home. We made it hard for ourselves but played really well in the end.
“On another day maybe we could have led by two at the break and then second half we had to defend really well. I’m really pleased to get over the line and win the game.
“Some of our attacking play in the first half was really strong. It was a different game in the second half. It was vety stop-start in the second half, a lot of injuries. But overall I thought we defended well.”
Before Spurs’ early goal, Martin Dubravka hadn’t conceded in the Premier League all season. The Slovakian, who could soon leave Newcastle, was kept busy throughout the game making three saves.
Howe also addressed the controversial equaliser which quickly turned the game around in the Magpies’ favour.
“For me, the rules are slightly unclear. I don’t know where the cut-off point is. Of course, it hit his hand – I cannot deny that. But from that point onwards I thought it was a really good goal.”
Howe comments on Dan Burn red card appeals
Dan Burn came to life in the second half on Saturday following a shaky start. The 33-year-old was booked in the 17th minute, putting him closer to a two-game suspension.
There were appeals for a second booking when he gave away more fouls later on but he remained on the pitch.
Howe asked about whether Burn should’ve seen red during the win by pundits on TNT Sport.
He said: “Not for me. I don’t think he warranted two yellow cards. His yellow card probably was but after that were slightly fouls.”
Joelinton was also booked, putting his tally for the season to seven – he’s now three bookings away from receiving a two-match ban in what would be a big blow for Howe.
Fabian Schar was absent for the game through suspension – he will miss Newcastle’s Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg against Arsenal alongside Toon captain Bruno Guimaraes.
