Newcastle United made it six wins from six across all competitions on Saturday.
Eddie Howe’s side rolled into the capital full of confidence after five consecutive wins and duly left Saturday’s Premier League clash at Tottenham with all three points.
Newcastle actually got off to a pretty poor start at Spurs, with Dominic Solanke heading the hosts in front after getting around the returning Sven Botman to meet Pedro Porro’s cross.
Still, Anthony Gordon would respond not long after the opener, drawing the visitors level with a fine finish.
The goal, however, was relatively controversial after Joelinton appeared to have handled when pressing Spurs midfielder Lucas Bergvall. A VAR check would confirm the Brazilian’s arm was in a natural position, meaning the goal stood.
Alexander Isak then continued his hot streak with a goal before the break and Howe’s side eventually held on despite Spurs having largely the better of it in the second-half.
However, to say Martin Dubravka was truly tested particularly often would perhaps be too much.
After the game, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou made some interesting comments.

Speaking to BBC Sport, the Australian rather cryptically suggested his side would have won if all things were in fact equal.
“On the balance of play, any balance you want with all things being equal, we would have won today,” he said.
“Outstanding. I couldn’t be prouder of the players. I couldn’t ask any more. It’s a game we would have won if all things were equal.
“If all things were equal and balanced we would have won today. Things weren’t equal and balanced.”
Newcastle United are proving PIF right
The build-up to the season certainly wasn’t easy for the club amid some rather crippling PSR restrictions.
The Newcastle United manager, however, is on course to take the club back into the Champions League should this fine run of form continue.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 3 | 19 | 11 | 4 | 4 | 26 | 19 | 7 | 37 | |

Owners PIF are believed to be of the belief that this season offers a great chance to attack the Premier League’s top five.
Right now, that’s exactly what Howe’s side are doing and there is the small matter of a Carabao Cup semi-final to come.
Perhaps the Gordon goal was fortunate but few can doubt Newcastle’s form right now.
