Newcastle star Anthony Gordon could now receive some really good news next week

Everything is going right for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon at this moment in time.

He is flying high in black and white, and was recently named Newcastle United’s player of the month for February. The 23-year-old was great last month, but that has been the case all season.

Anthony Gordon is enjoying the best season of his career. He has hit double figures, netting his 10th goal of the season during the win over Wolves. He has also got seven assists, as he continues to go from strength to strength.

It has been an incredible campaign for Gordon, but there is still so much more to come from him. He is going to keep getting better and better, while international recognition must not be too far away.

Pundits such as Alan Shearer have been calling for him to be included in Gareth Southgate’s next England squad, with the Three Lions set to compete in friendlies against Brazil and Belgium later this month.

It will be the last international break before Southgate picks his squad for Euro 2024, and Gordon will be hoping for a chance to prove he deserves a place on the plane.

And an opportunity might just be coming his way.

Anthony Gordon close to receiving England callup

That is because, according to the Daily Mail, it is believed that Gordon is very close to being included in the upcoming England squad, which is set to be announced next Thursday.

That is excellent news, as he certainly deserves a maiden England callup. The only surprise is that he has not received one already, considering his efforts with the Under-21s last summer and how well he has been doing for Newcastle.

Gordon has had to be patient when it comes to England, but his time could be now. It suddenly appears to be looking likely, and it is an opportunity that he richly deserves.

If he is included next week, he will likely be the only Newcastle United player involved. That is because Kieran Trippier is set to miss out due to injury, while Nick Pope and Callum Wilson also continue to be absent.
