Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has expressed his delight at seeing Anthony Gordon take his game to the next level.
The 23-year-old was slightly underwhelming when he first arrived at St James’ Park, but it was always clear that he was going to grow and develop into a key player for Eddie Howe.
Anthony Gordon has done exactly that this season, and he is now someone who the manager can trust and rely on. He has been the Magpies’ standout player during a challenging campaign, justifying the £40million that was spent on him last year.
The winger has became decisive in the final third, adding goals and assists to his game. He scored his 10th of the season during the 3-0 win over Wolves, and now has 17 goal contributions in all competitions.
Gordon is becoming more and more ruthless, and Howe is really pleased with how he has been performing.
Eddie Howe is thrilled with how Anthony Gordon is playing
Ahead of Newcastle’s game against Chelsea, Howe has spoke to the media. He was asked about Gordon’s form as of late.
“He has been excellent, when you consider how many games he has played, and the responsibility of the position,” he said.
“He has been really mature in everything he has done, in training and matches.
“He has added the end product, the goals and the assists, which is something he needed to do to become the best player that he is capable of being. I am delighted with every aspect of his game.”

Gordon is Newcastle United’s main man right now
Gordon has become Newcastle United’s Mr Reliable. During a season in which so many players have broken down, Gordon has been an almost ever-present. He has only missed one match this season, and that was because of suspension.
Despite multiple bumps and knocks, Gordon has played on. He has shown incredible durability, while he has also remained decisive.
Goals and assists had always been missing from his game. He had the speed and the skill, but not the killer instinct. That has now changed, and it is to the benefit of Newcastle United.
Eddie Howe is absolutely delighted with him, and so are the Toon Army, many of which view Gordon as their favourite player on Tyneside nowadays.
