Tino Livramento is Newcastle United’s newest hero, and the summer signing has a new nickname courtesy of Jacob Murphy.

The 20-year-old was handed his first ever Toon start on Wednesday night, taking Kieran Trippier’s place in defence.

Livramento was outstanding, helping the Magpies win 1-0 against treble winners Manchester City to advance to the next round of the Carabao Cup.

It was amazing to see Livramento play so well on his first start. He kept Jack Grealish quiet all evening, and ended up being named the Player Of The Match for his efforts.

He was a worthy recipient of the award, and it will hopefully be the first of many starts in a black and white shirt. It will be difficult serving as deputy to Trippier, but Livramento has proven that he can fill in for the 33-year-old when called upon.

Toon fans absolutely loved what they saw from Livramento, belting out chants of ‘Tino, Tino, Tino’, just like they used to do for Tino Asprilla.

The summer signing has an iconic name on Tyneside, but now he has been given a nickname by one of his teammates.

Jacob Murphy brands Livramento as ‘Teeny Tino’

After the game, Livramento took to his official Instagram account to post a few pictures from an incredible night.

The post prompted a reply from Jacob Murphy, who commented: “You’re that guy Teeny Tino.”

So there we have it. Livramento is now ‘Teeny Tino’.

Compared to some of the other nicknames at the club, this certainly isn’t the worst. It’s better than Anthony Gordon getting Malfoy from Harry Potter, but not quite as good as Bruno Guimaraes christening Joe Willock as ‘Willockinho’.

After a few months on Tyneside, it is nice to see that Livramento has got himself a nickname. However, it is not the best one to come out of Wednesday night’s win against Manchester City.

That honour goes to Paul Dummett, who was dubbed ‘Paul Maldini’ by Matt Targett. Maldini wishes he could have played as good as Dummett did against Man City!
