Newcastle United fans finally got a proper look at Tino Livramento on Wednesday night, and it is fair to say they are happy with what they saw.
Before the Carabao Cup clash with Manchester City, Livramento had been limited to appearances off the bench. He came on against Man City in the Premier League and during the 8-0 win over Sheffield United, but on Wednesday night he finally got a start.
The 20-year-old was named in Eddie Howe‘s starting XI for the cup clash, taking Kieran Trippier’s place at right-back.
They are very big shoes to fill, but the summer signing certainly showed signs that there will be life after the Newcastle skipper during an incredible game at St James’ Park.
Tino Livramento holds his own against Manchester City
Newcastle shocked the world on Wednesday night, knocking Manchester City out of the Carabao Cup. There were some impressive performances in black and white, but Tino Livramento was the standout player.

He had a difficult job, tasked with facing Jack Grealish whilst also keeping an eye on Man City’s roaming left-back Nathan Ake. But Livramento did well, keeping the £100million man at bay.
We also saw glimpses of Livramento’s athleticism, bursting forward and driving with the ball whenever he got the chance.
He also made a crucial intervention in the final 10 minutes, denying Matheus Nunes when it looked like he was going to score.
It was not an easy stage to make his first Newcastle United start, but Livramento can certainly be proud of his performance. He more than held his own against elite opposition, and showed that the Magpies really can afford to rest Trippier.
Livramento offers something different, but he is going to develop into a top class player. Given how he performed against Man City, do not be surprised if you see even more of him in a black and white shirt in the coming weeks and months.

Newcastle fans encouraged by Livramento’s performance
Toon fans were certainly pleased with what they saw from Livramento, and praised the youngster on X (former known as Twitter).
“Livramento looks the real deal. Never saw him at Southampton, but I like what I see here,” one fan wrote.
A second added: “Livramento is excellent we have such a good Trippier replacement.”
A third Toon fan tweeted: “Tino Livramento has been superb tonight like.”
“Livramento our best player shame he plays the same position as Tripps,” said another Newcastle supporter.
“Tino Livramento is everything I was hoping for. Looks like the real deal,” wrote another.
Finally, a sixth Newcastle fan stated: “Livramento been brilliant tonight against Grealish, really impressed.”
It is fair to say that Livramento should be very proud of his performance on what was his first Newcastle United start and a very memorable night for the club.
