Newcastle United will turn their attention towards Alexander Isak’s future after Anthony Gordon signed a contract extension.
The 23-year-old has committed his future to the Magpies, with Gordon signing a six-year deal with Newcastle United.
It will be exciting to see Gordon kick on now. He has improved so much since joining Newcastle United, and he has the potential to get even better.
His contract extension is a signal of intent from Newcastle, who know they need to keep their best players. Gordon follows Bruno Guimaraes in signing a new long-term deal, and now the club want Alexander Isak to do the same.
Alexander Isak’s stance on signing a new contract
Talks with the 25-year-old have been going on for a long time, leading to concerns over why an agreement has not been reached.
It was recently reported that Isak wants a release clause in his Newcastle contract, just like Bruno Guimaraes. Interestingly, Geordie Boot Boys understands that there is no release clause in Gordon’s new contract.
It remains to be seen what Newcastle’s stance is, with the club eager to step up negotiations following the conclusion of the Gordon situation.
According to iNews, Isak wants to sign a new contract with Newcastle United.
The fact that Isak wants to stay and commit his future to the Magpies is very encouraging. Now Newcastle need to present him with an offer that reflects his importance to the club.

What Newcastle United expect to happen with Alexander Isak
Isak is keen to sign a new contract, and that is obviously what Newcastle want too.
The club are confident that he will ink a new deal soon, according to TBR Football insider Graeme Bailey, who has spoken to Geordie Boot Boys about the Isak situation.
“Isak’s deal has clearly stalled,” he said.
“I don’t think anyone is really alluding to what the issues are at this stage. We can only speculate.
“There must be something holding this back. He’s on considerably lower wages than Gordon and Bruno. Newcastle are maintaining their confidence that it will get done.
“Chelsea and Arsenal showed an interest in the summer, but Isak also has a lot of interest from around Europe. His injury record is a concern for some clubs, I am told. We’ve seen it this season. He still doesn’t look fully fit.
“From Newcastle’s point of view, they are still hopeful and confident that he will sign. I think they would like it done and dusted before January.”
Hopefully Newcastle can get this situation resolved before January and get Isak to commit his future to the club.
He is just as important as Gordon and Bruno, and securing those talents to major long-term deals would be further proof of Newcastle moving in the right direction.
But Isak is a world class player, and Newcastle need to give him a contract offer that reflects that.
