Newcastle United fans are awaiting official confirmation of Anthony Gordon’s new contract.
The 23-year-old is on course to commit his future to Newcastle United, after months of speculation that the Magpies wanted to hand him a new deal.
It had been reported that Gordon had concerns over what Newcastle were offering him, but those issues appear to have been overcome.
Gordon will not become Newcastle’s highest earner, but he is set to put pen to paper on a new contract and end speculation over a move away.

How long Anthony Gordon’s new Newcastle United contract will be
His current deal had been due to expire in 2026, which is why Newcastle have seen it as a priority to extend Gordon’s contract.
After the news on Thursday that an agreement was close, Fabrizio Romano has provided an exciting update on the situation regarding Newcastle United’s number 10.
Romano posted on X on Friday morning that there was now an agreement between Anthony Gordon and Newcastle, with the winger set to sign a new deal until 2029.
However, Romano has since provided a fresh update on the Gordon situation, stating on his official X account that the England international will actually be signing a deal until 2030.
He posted on X: “Important detail on Anthony Gordon’s new deal at Newcastle: been told it will be valid until June 2030. The agreement is done and it’s gonna be for the next 6 years and not 5 as initially expected. Key move for #NUFC long term project and ambitions.”
Whether Gordon’s new contract will include a release clause
When rumours over Gordon signing a new deal first emerged, it felt inevitable that a new contract would include a release clause. That was the case when Bruno Guimaraes committed his future to the Magpies, and it is rumoured that the same could go for Alexander Isak.
However, that is not the case with Gordon.
Geordie Boot Boys understand that Gordon’s new six-year contract with Newcastle United will not include a release clause.
Eddie Howe set to get his Anthony Gordon wish
There will be delight on Tyneside, as Gordon gets set to sign a new contract that will keep him at Newcastle United until 2030. And the fact there is no release clause is even better.
Gordon is committing his best years to the Magpies, on the back of the best season of his career. Gordon was outstanding for Newcastle during the previous campaign, hitting double figures in both goals and assists.
The hope will be that he re-finds that form this season, with Newcastle believing Gordon is not far away from getting back to his best.
This new contract will hopefully help, and Eddie Howe will be ecstatic that one of his most important players is staying put.
Howe spoke about Gordon’s future during his pre-match press conference on Friday, after being asked about the contract speculation.
“We love Anthony,” he said.
“We’d love him to commit his future here. We’d love him to stay long-term at Newcastle and continue his excellent start to his career here.
“When you look at the broader piece of what he’s done since he’s arrived at the football club, I think he’s been magnificent for us. We need to try and help him get back to his very best levels. And if that means signing a new contract, then I’m all for that, to help him be settled and concentrate on his football.”
