Newcastle United fans have shared their opinions on a new announcement which has not gone down well following the official home kit launch.

Fans got to see the players wearing the new apparel for the 2025/26 season on the final day of the Premier League season before it was officially released for sale on Thursday afternoon.

Sadly, Newcastle United lost to Everton in their first runout with the new shirt, but the day ended on a high after they secured Champions League football.

That means the famous black and white stripes will be back in Europe’s top competition, just like they were in the 2023/24 campaign.

Many fans will hope that next season can bring just as many memories as the last time they were in the Champions League, with the 4-1 win against PSG at St James’ Park a big highlight in particular.

With Newcastle’s new home kit now on sale, fans have taken to social media to voice their displeasure at one huge change from last season.

Newcastle United fans complain at new kit price increase

The new kit is the second instalment from Adidas since their iconic sponsorship was resurrected in 2023, and they have hit the nail on the head with their design this season.

Newcastle fans loved the new home kit when it was leaked on social media, but they are far from pleased with how much it will cost to buy it.

It has been revealed that the pro version of the 2025/26 shirt will set fans back an eyewatering £120, with the regular version increasing to £85.

The increase has not been given the seal of approval by Newcastle fans, who have now been forced to pay even more for the new shirts.

“£120 is ridiculous,” said one fan, while another added: “£120 for the pro shirt Jesus Christ.”

This annoyed Newcastle fan said: “If you want a top that looks like what they actually wear on the pitch with a CL badge on too it’s almost £150 hahahahahaa. I’ve just spent nearly £300 on two tops. What a club.”

“Any chance of the pro kit in a long sleeve? Or not charging through the nose? Think it’s up 25% from this season which was already a jump.” said another vexed supporter.

Another fan added: “I am now £115 down cheers.”

Finally, this fan said: “Oooph so that about £150 for the pro top, personalised with CL badge. Ouch. But it has the better collar and the shiny crest. Decisions, decisions.”

PIF faced backlash after another Newcastle United announcement

Newcastle are working towards becoming more of a powerhouse in the footballing world, so there will naturally be a lot of change behind the scenes.

Recent financial accounts showed Newcastle registered £320m turnover for the 2023/24 campaign, more than the club had estimated.

Some of that extra revenue came from playing in the Champions League, which they did not do last season. However, the Adidas sponsorship should level out what they missed out on in their next set of accounts.

Newcastle’s kit prices are not the first time fans have complained to the PIF about a major decision. Recently, Newcastle fans were displeased with season ticket costs increasing by 5%.

The club defended their decision to raise season ticket prices, with CEO Darren Eales claiming the move was made to “build towards our collective ambitions”.
