Kylian Mbappe had a night to forget as his PSG side lost 4-1 to Newcastle United in the Champions League at St James’ Park.

All eyes were on Mbappe as he arrived on Tyneside. He has been the talk of the Toon. But he failed to shine under the Champions League lights at St James’ Park.

It was Newcastle who triumphed, with local lads Sean Longstaff and Dan Burn hogging the headlines ahead of PSG’s superstars.

There was fear from fans every time the World Cup winner got on the ball, but he was unable to penetrate a Newcastle defence that were near perfect on Wednesday night.

Mbappe struggled to impose himself against the Magpies, who went straight down the tunnel after the final whistle.

He will never forget his time in the North East for all the wrong reasons, and now Newcastle United’s official X (Twitter) account has been poking fun at him.

Newcastle poke fun at Kylian Mbappe after Champions League victory

The club have posted a picture from last night’s victory on Twitter. The image includes Mbappe, Burn and Fabian Schar.

Hilariously, Newcastle’s Twitter account accompanied the picture with the caption: “Two players in this picture scored last night.”

It’s brutal from the club’s social media team, but you’ve got to make the most of moments like this!

Two of those players did score, and it was Burn and Schar. The latter’s goal was particularly outstanding, and relieved the pressure in stoppage time when it looked like PSG could find a way back.

Looking at that photo that the club posted, it’s just absolutely crazy, isn’t it?

Mbappe came to St James’ Park, yet we’re talking about goals from player who couldn’t score for love nor money before Howe arrived, two local lads and a man who wasn’t deemed good enough by the previous regime.

But let’s hope Mbappe doesn’t see the image, otherwise he will be even more desperate for revenge in the reverse fixture in Paris!
