Dan Burn has spoken out about Anthony Gordon’s red card during Newcastle United’s FA Cup loss to Brighton.
The Magpies were reduced to 10-men on Sunday, as Newcastle United exited the FA Cup.
Alan Shearer says Anthony Gordon cost Newcastle in the FA Cup, while he could also cost them in the Carabao Cup final.
Gordon is suspended for the final at Wembley, unless the Magpies successfully appeal the decision. However, it is unlikely that a Gordon appeal will be successful if Newcastle United decide to go down that route.

Dan Burn ‘surprised’ after Anthony Gordon red card
There has not been a lot of noise coming out of the Newcastle United camp following Sunday’s crushing defeat to Brighton.
But now Dan Burn has spoken out, with the Geordie defender addressing Gordon’s red card during an interview with the Northern Echo.
“I haven’t spoken to Anthony yet,” he said.
“I haven’t even watched it back, to be honest. But when I first saw it, I was surprised the red card came out.
“He’s going to be disappointed, isn’t he. I really don’t think there was any sort of intent there, he’s not that type of player.
“It’s just a real shame for him.”
In the heat of the moment, Burn was surprised to see Gordon receive a red card for his push on Jan Paul van Hecke.
However, it is difficult to argue with Anthony Taylor’s decision. While he may not have intended to, Gordon pushed the Brighton defender in the back of the head, as tempers boiled over.
Gordon’s red card was even more infuriating as the whistle had already gone for an offside on Alexander Isak. There was no reason for the 24-year-old to carry on and eventually get embroiled in a tussle with Van Hecke.
Bruno Guimaraes says ‘blame me’ after Newcastle United heartbreak
Now Gordon is set to miss Newcastle’s biggest game of the season, as Toon fans ponder how they are going to beat Liverpool and end their trophy drought without him.
Newcastle United must find a way. Eddie Howe will decide who replaces Gordon on the left wing, while Bruno Guimaraes has already issued a rallying cry to supporters following the FA Cup heartache.
The Newcastle captain did not directly address Gordon’s red card, but told Toon fans that they could ‘blame me’ for the FA Cup exit.
Newcastle fans have been impressed by Bruno’s leadership following Sunday’s loss, and now he must showcase that leadership on the pitch against West Ham and then at Wembley in the final.
