Bruno Guimaraes believes Newcastle United’s big move in the transfer market has worked wonders for the club.
Guimaraes joined Newcastle United from Lyon in January 2022 and has since gone on to establish himself as one of their best players in the modern era.
Still, such has been the level of transfer success Newcastle have enjoyed under Eddie Howe and PIF, the Brazilian hasn’t been the only brilliant signing the club have made.
For all the talk of signing superstars for the sake of it in the initial wake of the Newcastle United takeover, the club have actually adopted a relatively measured approach in the transfer market.
While big money has of course been spent, the funds still have to go on the right kind of players. With that said, Guimaraes has been impressed by the signing of Sandro Tonali.

Bruno Guimaraes says Newcastle United struck transfer gold with Sandro Tonali
Newcastle paid around £55million for Tonali from AC Milan in the summer of 2023 and that now looks a bargain.
Granted, the club had to wait a while to see the best of the midfielder after he was banned from football for ten months for breaking betting rules but the Italian has since proven to have been worth the wait.
Tonali is one of Newcastle’s best players and the balance he has brought to the midfield has allowed Guimaraes to flourish further forward.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Guimaraes said: “He has all the attributes that the gaffer likes.
“I think he was a very good signing for us. It’s nice to play with him, I enjoy it a lot.”

Tonali is happy to stay at Newcastle but that hasn’t stopped there being rumours linking him with a move away.
Juventus are interested in signing Tonali this summer but, frankly, it just does not look like happening.

Newcastle value Tonali at over £100million, which feels out of reach to other clubs looking to buy him.
The club have every right to demand that kind of money, too. The 25-year-old has been excellent and still has three years to run on his contract.
In Guimaraes, Tonali and Joelinton, Newcastle have an excellent midfield. None of them look like going anywhere.
