What Juventus have now realised about signing Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United

For some reason, so much has been made about Sandro Tonali’s future at Newcastle United.

Tonali has proven a revelation at Newcastle United this season, bringing balance to the midfield upon his return from a ten-month ban from football for breaking betting rules.

The Italy international is one of Eddie Howe’s most important players. Dropping him into a deeper midfield role has brought stability to this Newcastle team, while allowing Bruno Guimaraes to move further forward.

Newcastle have no intention of selling Tonali this summer despite frequent links with a return to Italian football. Juventus are interested in Tonali but there is absolutely no suggestion Newcastle would be willing to sell the player, having waited so long to see the very best of him.

Thankfully, reports in the Italian media would suggest the Turin giants are starting to come to some form of acceptance.

Juventus accept Sandro Tonali reality

According to Tutto Juve, their plans to sign Tonali are more “a hope, a dream” rather than anything that seems “possible and plausible”.

They suggest Tonali is just too expensive for them this summer even if Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz is included as part of any attempt to land him.

It’s claimed that Newcastle value Tonali at €80m, which doesn’t seem likely. That roughly equates to £68million.

Newcastle paid £55milion for Tonali and his value would surely only have sky-rocketed this season.

The player’s salary is also said to be too expensive for Juventus, particularly if they do not qualify for the Champions League.

Does Sandro Tonali want to leave Newcastle?

It’s obviously difficult to know exactly what any player is thinking. However, all the recent talk would suggest the 24-year-old is happy at St James’ Park.

Reports from The Chronicle have suggested Tonali is not interested in leaving Newcastle this summer.

That, coupled with the fact that Juve seemingly couldn’t afford him even if he did want to leave, all look to point toward Tonali staying at Newcastle. Patience has been a virtue with his signing and letting him any time soon would be a major shock.

Perhaps he will one day return to Italian football at some point in his career. For now, however, Newcastle looks the best place to be.
