Sandro Tonali is one of Newcastle United’s most important players.

Many would have expected that to have been the case when Newcastle United paid big money to sign him from AC Milan in the summer of 2023 but, for a number of reasons, fans had to wait.

Newcastle paid around £55million for Tonali but there were teething problems. Indeed, there were initial doubts about whether or not Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes could play together.

The Italian was then banned from football for ten months following betting breaches but has certainly returned with a vengeance.

Tonali has been excellent for Newcastle, bringing a balance to the midfield that has set them on their way to what looks increasingly like Champions League qualification to go alongside their Carabao Cup victory.

Still, the transfer talk has continued. Juventus want to sign Tonali, although a fresh update on his future has now emerged.

Sandro Tonali transfer news as Newcastle bite back

According to Mark Douglas in iNews, Newcastle wouldn’t even entertain world-record offers for the midfielder.

Enzo Fernandez is currently the most expensive central midfielder of all-time following his £103million move from Benfica to Chelsea in January 2023 and it seems even that kind of offer wouldn’t tempt Newcastle into selling right now.

The report says that the idea of seeing Tonali make a quick-fire return to Serie A is viewed as “daft” and it adds there is simply no chance of that happening anytime soon.

Sandro Tonali’s latest transfer message amid Serie A talk

Tonali has hinted at a long-term future at Newcastle, having come good after a long wait to make a real impact for the club.

“Every game we have 52,000 people in the stadium and this is amazing for football,” he said earlier this month. “I am so happy to play every game in this stadium and with these fans, it is amazing.”

At some point in his career, a return to Italy may be in the offing, However, at only 24, there’s still an awful lot to prove in the Premier League with Newcastle.

One of the most important signings of the PIF era, it’s fantastic to hear that he looks set to stay long-term.

An absolute machine in central midfield, the future is very bright for Tonali and Newcastle together.
