Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle United has been the subject of huge scrutiny this summer.
While Isak has confirmed he’s happy at Newcastle United, it hasn’t stopped the speculation over the last few weeks.
Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in Isak, though there has been little suggestion that Newcastle are willing to sell.
Indeed, Isak still has three years to run on his contract at St James’ Park.
Reports have suggested Isak is open to joining Liverpool but Newcastle fans will no doubt take heart from a recent quick-fire Q&A session with the Swedish striker.

Carabao Cup win is Alexander Isak’s favourite football memory
Isak was speaking to media platform VERSUS following the release of Newcastle’s 2025/26 third kit.
He was asked a series of questions, few of which had to do with football.
Still, Isak was quizzed on what his favourite footballing memory was.
While the forward has won trophies with Borussia Dortmund and Real Sociedad, Isak named winning the Carabao Cup with Newcastle as his favourite memory in the game. Isak, of course, scored what proved to be the winning goal against Liverpool at Wembley in March.
“The cup win, the final against Liverpool,” he said.
“It was just a massive day to be a part of and see all the reactions and stuff, it was nice.”
What is really expected to happen with Alexander Isak this summer
Isak isn’t expected to push for Newcastle to sell him this summer, which will be a huge boost for the club.
Should that happen, it’s very hard to see the club selling him. Isak is one of Newcastle’s best-ever strikers, and the Magpies are in a very strong position to keep him for at least one more season.
| Trophy | Season | Club |
| DfB Pokal | 2016-2017 | Borussia Dortmund |
| Copa del Rey | 2019-2020 | Real Sociedad |
| Carabao Cup | 2024-25 | Newcastle United |
What happens after that is unclear.
At some point, Newcastle plan to sell Isak to a foreign club, with Barcelona and Real Madrid both previously linked with a move.
However, after getting a taste of success on Tyneside, there’s still a chance Isak can add to his trophy haul while still a Newcastle player.
