A Premier League record awaits Alexander Isak if he finds the back of the net for Newcastle United against Nottingham Forest.
There is plenty at stake during Sunday’s Premier League showdown at St James’ Park.
PIF expect Eddie Howe to qualify for Europe this season, but a return to the Champions League only feels possible if the Magpies take all three points here.

Sunday’s opponents, Nottingham Forest, sit third in the Premier League table but Newcastle can close the gap to just three points with a win on Tyneside.
Newcastle have already beaten Forest twice this season – once on penalties in the Carabao Cup and then in an impressive 3-1 victory at City Ground.

Alexander Isak can smash Premier League record
Alexander Isak scored against Forest during the 3-1 win back in November. He netted Newcastle’s equaliser before Joelinton and Harvey Barnes completed an impressive comeback.
It was just one of Alexander Isak’s 17 Premier League goals scored this season, and he will be aiming to add to that tally on Sunday afternoon.

If Isak does find the back of the net, he will become the highest-scoring Swedish player of all time in the Premier League.
Isak currently sits level with Freddie Ljungberg with 48 Premier League goals.
Isak has already broken Alan Shearer’s record for goals in consecutive games this season, and there is no doubt he will smash plenty more records throughout his career.
Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo praised Isak before Sunday’s encounter and keeping the Swedish striker has proven a difficult task for most clubs.
Alexander Isak’s record vs Nottingham Forest
Newcastle’s record against Forest this season is impressive given that they are firmly in the race for Champions League qualification.
Two wins in two matches should give Newcastle the confidence they need to return to winning ways at St James’ Park, and Isak also boasts a good record against Forest.
Sunday will be the fifth time that Isak has faced Forest in his career. In the previous four meetings, he has won three matches and lost one.
Isak has also scored four goals against Forest and provided one assist. He has had plenty of joy facing them in the past, including a brace in a 2-1 win in March 2023 which ended Forest’s nine-game unbeaten streak at the time.
