Nuno Espirito Santo’s four-word answer to Alexander Isak question ahead of Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest

While Newcastle United fans gush over Alexander Isak, Nuno Espirito Santo is much more reserved.

He will be plotting how to stop Newcastle United’s most expensive signing ever, as his Nottingham Forest side prepare to travel to Tyneside.

It is Newcastle United vs Nottingham Forest at St James’ Park on Sunday, as Eddie Howe aims to do the double over Nuno Espirito Santo. The Magpies won at the City Ground in November, with Alexander Isak scoring in a 3-1 win.

Heading into this game, Isak is in the midst of what some might describe as a goal drought. The 25-year-old has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season, but has failed to find the net in his last four appearances.

Nuno’s short verdict on Newcastle striker Alexander Isak

Chris Sutton predicts Isak will bounce back this weekend, but Forest boss Nuno is focussed on all of Newcastle United’s threats, rather than just the main man up front.

During his pre-match press conference, Nuno was asked to give his thoughts on Isak. His response was rather brief.

“A very good player,” he said.

“But, like I said, the squad of Newcastle is very strong… very, very strong, in all the positions.”

Alexander Isak’s record against Nottingham Forest

Nuno thinks Isak is ‘very good’, while Nottingham Forest have seen first hand just how talented he is.

Since their promotion to the Premier League, they have struggled to keep the Sweden international at bay.

Isak has played against Forest four times in his career, scoring four goals and providing one assist. The only game against Forest that he did not score in was the Carabao Cup victory at the City Ground earlier this season.

The only teams that Isak has scored more goals against are Tottenham Hotspur (six) and West Ham United (five).

If he can add to his account this weekend, Isak will reach the 20-goal mark. That will be quite the achievement, as he sets about eclipsing his tally of 25 goals last season.
