Newcastle United got the win they needed on Saturday, securing a derby day victory over Sunderland to advance in the FA Cup.
All the pressure was on Eddie Howe’s side going into the game. There were claims from the media that he would be under pressure if Newcastle lost, but they won in sublime fashion.
The Magpies dominated against Sunderland, winning 3-0 to move into the fourth round of the FA Cup and triumph in their first Tyne-Wear derby since 2011.
There were some brilliant performances in black and white. Anthony Gordon was sensational on the left wing, giving Sunderland right-back Trai Hume a torrid afternoon.
Alexander Isak also excelled, and he was denied a hat-trick by Dan Ballard scoring an own goal.
But the star of the show was Bruno Guimaraes, who has received praise from out on loan Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden on Instagram.

Isaac Hayden loved Bruno Guimaraes’ performance during Newcastle’s derby win
After the win over Sunderland, Bruno took to his official Instagram account to deliver a message to supporters – his second after the victory at the Stadium Of Light.
Alongside a selection of pictures from the game, he added the caption: “Newcastle United. Period.”
He received a reply from Hayden, who commented back: “Ran the show.”
Bruno Guimaraes really did run the show against Sunderland
Hayden, who is being linked with returning to Newcastle before being loaned out again this month, is spot on about Bruno Guimaraes‘ performance.
He was spectacular at the Stadium Of Light, dominating the midfield like he has done so regularly this season. The 26-year-old continues to be Newcastle’s star of the campaign, rising to the occasion in his first ever Tyne-Wear derby.
Bruno got it spot on. He was classy in possession, and tigerish without it. He won so many tackles and made so many interceptions, rarely overstepping the mark and giving the referee a decision to make.
But it was a performance filled with passion from the Brazilian, and he let out an incredible roar in front of the 6,000 travelling fans after simply blocking a clearance midway through the second half.
Toon fans loved it, and Hayden loved his performance. He really did run the show at the Stadium Of Light, as Newcastle secured bragging rights and a place in the FA Cup fourth round.
