After a frustrating transfer window, Newcastle United will now be able to focus on playing football as they prepare to face Luton Town.

The Magpies suddenly look back to their best after a recent dip. They have won back-to-back away games, including an incredible victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday night.

Eddie Howe‘s side were exceptional that night, and will be full of confidence ahead of Saturday’s game.

Following Newcastle’s win over Villa, Howe spoke about how happy he was with his side’s improvement at the back. Newcastle suddenly look a lot more settled, which is why there will be no defensive changes against Luton.

And there probably won’t be any changes in midfield either. That is because Howe barely has any options, unless he shocks everyone and hands Joe White his first ever senior start for the Magpies.

The 21-year-old is likely to be on the bench again, and will hope to make his debut.

Harvey Barnes on the bench for Newcastle

Newcastle look set to be boosted by the return of Harvey Barnes. The 26-year-old has not featured since September due to injury, but could make his comeback on Saturday.

The summer signing will likely be on the bench against Luton, which will give Eddie Howe even more options in reserve. That is a huge boost, as the Toon boss has struggled to make meaningful substitutes during this injury crisis.

Alexander Isak misses out due to injury

Speaking of the injury crisis, Alexander Isak is Newcastle’s latest casualty. He was forced off against Aston Villa due to a groin problem, and is set to miss a couple of weeks of action.

And with Callum Wilson unsure about his status, it will likely be Anthony Gordon who leads the line.

The £40million man did it brilliantly on Tuesday night, and he will be flanked by Jacob Murphy and Miguel Almiron – who has not started since the defeat to Manchester City.

But the 29-year-old is back now after illness, while the transfer window has closed without him being sold.
