The latest update from Craig Hope suggests that Newcastle United player Harvey Barnes’ injury nightmare really could come to an end this weekend.
The 26-year-old has endured a rotten start to his Newcastle career, having joined the club during the summer transfer window for £39million.
But he has been limited to just seven Toon appearances so far, and has not been seen since September.
Harvey Barnes started the 8-0 win over Sheffield United late last year, but an early injury forced him off. He hurt his foot that day, and has not been seen since.
There has been a lot of noise as of late about him edging closer to a return, with Saturday’s game against Luton Town pencilled in for his comeback.
Now the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope has provided further details on Barnes’ status, and he expects the winger to be involved this weekend.

Harvey Barnes nearly made Newcastle return against Aston Villa
Hope has taken to X to provide an update on Barnes, admitting that he nearly made the trip to Villa Park on Tuesday night.
He wrote: “Barnes was very close to travelling to Villa from what I’ve heard, so should make bench on Saturday (setbacks aside…).”
Barnes could be back for Newcastle on Saturday
If Barnes was nearly deemed fit enough for Villa then surely he will be ready to go against Luton.
That will be a huge boost for Eddie Howe, who is starting to get some of his attacking players back. He has recently welcomed Jacob Murphy back into the side, and he has been impressive since his return.
Now he could be joined by Barnes, who will give Howe another option out wide. That is ideal, as he could be forced to play Anthony Gordon as a striker against Luton. That is because Alexander Isak is ruled out, and Callum Wilson is unsure if he will be fit in time.
But it sounds like Barnes will, and there will be a huge roar inside St James’ Park when he officially ends his injury nightmare and returns to the pitch.
