Newcastle United dominated Manchester United in every area to pick up a vital three points in the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim’s side scored against the run of play in the first half to enter the break level, but Newcastle United showed they were the better side with a dominant second-half display to win 4-1.
Sandro Tonali opened the scoring early on, but a brace from Harvey Barnes and one from captain Bruno Guimaraes made it an easy afternoon for the Magpies.
Eddie Howe was absent as he recovers from an illness in hospital, and that only added more fuel to win at St James’ Park.
Not that Newcastle will ever need any more motivation to beat Manchester United.

Dan Burn wanted to ‘punish’ Man United
Newcastle are on a hot streak at the moment, winning five games in a row across all competitions – including the Carabao Cup final win last month.
Against Manchester United, Newcastle had the chance to push forward in their race for Champions League qualification, but there was also plenty of pride at stake – especially for Dan Burn.
After the full-time whistle, Burn made it very clear he is not a fan of the Red Devils.
“It felt good, I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of Man United,” Burn said via the Premier League.
“I wasn’t born the last time we did the double over them (1930/31)! Top performance, we set out what we wanted to do from the start, and I’m sure the gaffer will be really happy with it.
“We’ve had some slow starts to second halves this season, but here we wanted to punish them and suck the energy out of the game.”
Burn is right, Newcastle have done the double over Manchester United for the first time in nearly a century. Eddie Howe continues to make history at this club, even when he is not in the dugout.
Newcastle United add to Carabao Cup revenge
Fans will not need to be reminded that Manchester United ruined Newcastle’s Carabao Cup dreams in 2023 at Wembley.
After that match, Howe delivered an iconic team talk against Manchester United in the Premier League with Newcastle achieving a 2-0 win to get their revenge.

This time it was Jason Tindall who delivered the team talk, but it appeared to have a similar impact with Newcastle proving to Manchester United that they are now the better team.
While Manchester United are now slumped down in 14th in the Premier League table, Newcastle are chasing their second Champions League campaign having already added silverware to their trophy cabinet this season.
