Eddie Howe has already made history as Newcastle United manager this season.
He has cemented his place as a Newcastle United legend, ending the Magpies’ trophy drought and guiding the club to Carabao Cup glory.
As a result of winning the cup, Howe is getting the freedom of Newcastle. On top of that, Alan Shearer thinks Howe will eventually get a statue at St James’ Park.
By winning their first domestic trophy since 1955, this is already a historic season for Newcastle United. That is a piece of history that will not be topped during the 2024/25 campaign.
But while it might not be topped, there is still the chance for Howe to make more history on Tyneside.

Newcastle United will make history if they beat Manchester United on Sunday
In fact, the Newcastle United manager can do exactly that this weekend when Manchester United arrive at St James’ Park.
For the second time in the Premier League this season, it is Newcastle versus Manchester United.

The Magpies won the reverse fixture with ease, with goals from Alexander Isak and Joelinton giving Howe’s side a comfortable 2-0 victory.
Now Newcastle United will aim to do the double over Manchester United, which is something they have never done in the Premier League era. With the Red Devils currently 13th in the Premier League, this could be Newcastle’s best opportunity.
While Man United have done countless doubles over Newcastle, the last time the Magpies did it was in the 1930/31 season.
No fresh injury problems for Newcastle United
Newcastle have momentum heading into Sunday’s game. They have won four games in a row in all competitions, including the Carabao Cup final triumph over Liverpool.
The Magpies will hope to make it five in a row this weekend, as they prepare to face Man United with pretty much the same squad that beat Leicester City on Monday night.
It certainly will not be any weaker, with Newcastle not suffering any new injuries coming out of that game. While he was substituted in the second half, Howe insists that Isak is fully fit.
Elsewhere, it remains to be seen if Anthony Gordon and Joe Willock will be fit enough to feature after missing the win over Leicester.
Three players who will not be fit enough to feature are Sven Botman, Lewis Hall and Jamaal Lascelles.
