Newcastle United are looking to add more depth into their attack this summer to provide cover for Alexander Isak.
The Magpies currently have two other natural strikers in their first-team squad, with Callum Wilson and William Osula all viable options. However, Eddie Howe is keen to add a young, proven attacker to his squad who can be placed into the starting XI as and when required.
Newcastle United want Liam Delap, with reports suggesting the Ipswich Town striker will cost around £40m this summer should the Tractor Boys be relegated.
However, sporting director Paul Mitchell may look to tap into the European market to find cheaper gems for Howe, the plan being for the 47-year-old to develop them into quality players who could be cashed in on later down the line.
Elsewhere, Newcastle are keen on signing Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, with the Brazilian keen to leave the club this summer. Cunha told Wolves he wants to fight for league titles, something he has little chance of doing at his current club.
With the summer transfer window fast approaching, and Newcastle keen to improve the attacking options, a new report has just given them a huge boost in their efforts to sign Cunha.

Newcastle informed of new transfer fee for Matheus Cunha
Despite Wolves’ low Premier League position, Cunha has had an exceptional season, scoring 13 goals and bagging four assists. Those statistics put him up there as one of the league’s best players this season, with few scoring more than him.
Cunha was picked alongside Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton for Brazil’s National team in March. There is a chance that the pair would have been in his ear, trying to convince him to move to Tyneside.
When he signed his new Wolves contract earlier this season, it was confirmed Cunha has a £62.5m release clause which clubs like Newcastle, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest must pay to bag his signature.
However, in a new report from CaughtOffside, it has been claimed that Wolves would be willing to accept slightly less than his release clause this summer.
The report does not name a new price tag, but confirms that Arsenal are the firm favourites to land him, while the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham also keep tabs.
Can Newcastle give Matheus Cunha what he wants?
There is no doubt that Cunha has the quality to continue his form into next season and beyond, but as it stands, Newcastle may not be able to give the 25-year-old his desires.
The Magpies are currently sixth in the Premier League table and will definitely be playing European football next season. But it may still be too early to consider Newcastle as title contenders, even if they have a good summer.

Arsenal have finished in the top three in the last three Premier League seasons now, they look the more likely club to challenge for the league title if they were compared to Newcastle.
However, a good summer on Tyneside could change all that. Howe and Mitchell have huge plans for the upcoming transfer window as they prepare to take the next step in the PIF’s project.
