When Newcastle United will officially sign Antonio Cordero
According to iNews, the Spaniard is set to complete the formalities of his move to Newcastle early next month, which is the start of June 2025.
His current contract with the Spanish second tier side runs until June 30, according to Transfermarkt.
Malaga insist Cordero is not distracted by his move to Newcastle, which now appears to be a matter of ‘when’ and not ‘if’.
Now, it seems the start of June will bring an end to the saga.
Antonio Cordero’s immediate future at Newcastle United in doubt
Initially, it seemed as if Newcastle plan to loan Cordero out next season rather than keeping him in the first-team.
Ajax were even touted as a potential destination, with decision-makers at St James’ reportedly feeling the player could benefit from a loan spell in the Eredivisie. Yankuba Minteh, of course, saw his stock rise while on loan at Feyenoord from Newcastle last season.
However, Cordero’s agents are suggesting he could play for Newcastle next season – with a decision on his immediate future yet to have been made.
That would be a big call from Eddie Howe. Throwing him straight into a Premier League environment straight from the Spanish second tier would be quite the gamble.
