Newcastle United are set to sign Antonio Cordero on a free transfer, as Paul Mitchell works his magic.
The Newcastle United sporting director is eager to enhance the Magpies’ youth ranks, bringing in talented teenagers who can blossom into first-team stars.
Newcastle have signed Vakhtang Salia, with Paul Mitchell pushing to bring the Georgian attacker to Tyneside. He got his wish, with Salia set to become a Toon player this summer.
He will be joined on Tyneside by Antonio Cordero. His contract at Malaga is due to expire, with Newcastle swooping in to strike a deal for the 18-year-old Spanish winger.
Newcastle have been expecting to sign Cordero, and now a deal is set to be formally announced according to Fabrizio Romano.

Newcastle United’s Antonio Cordero plan
Cordero is heading to St James’ Park and joining the Newcastle United project.
It is obviously a very exciting project, with the Magpies fending off interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona to land the teenager.
The club will have high hopes for Cordero, and the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope has provided details regarding what Newcastle United’s immediate plan is for the attacker.
Hope wrote on X: “The plan is for Antonio Cordero to be loaned out next season. Viewed as a signing below first-team level, for now. Will hopefully get chance to see a glimpse in pre-season. Heard exciting things about him.”
Newcastle United hope to repeat Yankuba Minteh trick
Newcastle United are going to send Cordero out on loan, which feels like a sensible decision.
He already has experience at senior level, playing in LaLiga 2 for Malaga. Cordero has played 32 times in the second tier of Spanish football this season, scoring five goals and providing six assists.
With Newcastle not believing he is first-team ready yet, it makes sense to loan him out rather than play youth football for the Magpies.

Newcastle’s next decision will be ensuring they find the right club for Cordero. They need to find him a club where he will play regularly, ideally in a style that will help him when he is eventually deemed good enough for Eddie Howe’s first-team.
The hope will be that Newcastle can repeat the trick they pulled off with Yankuba Minteh.
After signing him for £6million in 2023, he was immediately loaned out to Feyenoord. It proved to be an exceptional loan spell for the winger, with Minteh proving he was ready for Premier League football with his performances in Rotterdam.
Minteh then inadvertently saved the Magpies, with his Feyenoord loan spell allowing Newcastle to value him at £33million as they sold him to Brighton avoid breaching PSR.
Newcastle will hope the situation is different with Cordero. They will only sell him if it is financially beneficial, rather than to comply with the Premier League’s financial rules.
However, their main objective will be for him to eventually become a Newcastle United star.
