Newcastle United’s summer transfer window now looks like it will soon have lift off.
AC Milan star Sandro Tonali is widely expected to become a Newcastle player imminently in one of the biggest transfers of the PIF era.
Back in the Champions League next season, it’s a major statement of intent at St James’ Park.

Such is the insatiable nature of the transfer window, however, talk is already flying around about potential further recruits.
James Maddison continues to be linked with a move to Newcastle, along with a host of other names.
Still, the club might have other ideas.
Luke Edwards shares what Newcastle plan to do straight after signing Sandro Tonali
Indeed, the Daily Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has provided an update into the state of play behind the scenes.
After Tonali is announced, the club are reportedly likely to hit “pause” on their recruitment plans and reflect on where they go next.
Edwards suggests there is a desire to move players off the wage bill, having spent heavily on Tonali.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “#nufc will complete signing of Sandro Tonali at the end of week but then pause and reflect before deciding what to do next.
“A big chunk of funds has gone on the Italian and there is desire to move players out as well to free up wage space. Patience needed.”

Selling has been a problem for Newcastle
Frankly, Newcastle don’t have that many sellable assets.
Allan Saint-Maximin is perhaps the only fairly big name not getting regular game time, with much of the squad assembled to battle against relegation under Steve Bruce still prevalent.
With that in mind, finding willing buyers might be difficult.
Clearly, there needs to be a balance in terms of outgoings and incomings but the former looks harder to guarantee, such is the nature of trying to sell players on Premier League contracts.
