Newcastle United appear to be edging closer to the signing of Sandro Tonali.
The AC Milan midfielder is widely expected to join Newcastle this summer, with Tonali seemingly set to sign a six-year contract at St James’ Park.
The player’s agent has been speaking about the move and, frankly, it’s hugely unlikely that would ever happen unless an agreement was close.

Eddie Howe is believed to be a big fan of the 23-year-old, so much so that the chase of another reported target in Scott McTominay could be left.
Still, despite all the positive reports about Tonali, nothing has been signed yet.
With that in mind, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update.
Fabrizio Romano explains why Newcastle haven’t announced Sandro Tonali yet
The noted transfer insider took to Twitter to explain the latest on the current situation.
According to Romano, there are still some details to work out, albeit he stressed that a deal was all-but done. He does, however, add that there is unlikely to be an announcement early next week.
“No announcement this weekend or beginning of next week for Sandro Tonali to Newcastle deal due to some technical formalities; but the agreement is done,” he wrote.

Should be little reason to panic
As supporters, it’s only natural to be slightly concerned when a deal has not been confirmed. Football fans of clubs all over the world will have burned before, after all.
Still, the fact Tonali’s agent is openly speaking about the move would surely suggest it is close.
The recruitment team at Newcastle have hardly let anybody down since the takeover and there is little reason to imagine they’ll start doing so now.
Deals of this magnitude must have an awful lot of spinning plates. Newcastle should still get the job done.
